What is Femara Letrozole 2.5 mg 30 tabs Nov.?

What is FEMARA and what is it used for?

FEMARA tablets are dark yellow colored, round, slightly curved, with sloped edges, "FV" on one side, and "CG" printed film-coated tablets. Each film-coated tablet contains 2.5 mg letrozole.

FEMARA is presented in blister packages containing 30 film-coated tablets.

Letrozole is a group of drugs called aromatase inhibitors. Treatment with FEMARA is a hormonal (or "endocrine") treatment of breast cancer.

The development of breast cancer is often stimulated by estrogens, the female sex hormones. FEMARA reduces the amount of estrogen by blocking an enzyme ("aromatase") that is involved in the production of estrogen, and thus can prevent the growth of breast cancers in need of estrogen to grow.

As a result, the tumor cells slow down or cut the progression and / or spread to other parts of the body. In addition, FEMARA can be used to reduce tumor size before breast surgery and to help prevent tumor recurrence after breast surgery.

Monitoring of FEMARA treatment

FEMARA should only be taken under strict medical supervision.

Your doctor will regularly check your condition to check whether the treatment has the desired effect.

Your doctor may also decide to monitor your bone health, as this medication can cause thinning or damage to the bones (osteoporosis, bone resorption).

Ask your doctor if you have any questions about how FEMARA is effective or why this medicine is prescribed to you.
