Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed from tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide. The stabilised analogue carries a C-terminal proline-glycine-proline extension, which is what gives it resistance to enzymatic breakdown and makes it practical to work with in the laboratory.

The peptide is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a single 5 mg vial. The dry format keeps the peptide stable through storage and transport and allows the researcher to dissolve it in the solvent and at the concentration their own protocol specifies.
